The Study Of Japanese Sinologist Okamura Shigeru' Research On Tao Yuanming

A well-known Japanese Sinologist, Okamura Shigeru, has made enormous achievements in the field of Chinese ancient literature Study "A new Approach to Tao Yuanming", one of his most important works, put forward a few subversive points which had a great impact on the Japanese readers and the the international scholars. Based on a study of "A new Approach to Tao Yuanming", this thesis try to analyze his views, to explore the causes and its characteristics, and to deepen the study of Tao Yuanming. It also aims to explain "how Tao Yuanming and his works are accepted and interpreted in different cultures". Through the dialogue to expand horizons, we will deepened the realization about the relevant issue in the collision and exchanges.The thesis is divided into five parts.The introduction part briefly introduces the acceptance of Tao Yuanming'works in Japan and Okamura Shigeru's basic views expressed in "A new Approach to Tao Yuanming". In addition, how this thesis would approach Okamura Shigeru'study is also explained.Chapter 1, after making a brief introduction of Tao Yuanming's study in Japan in the second half 20^th century, introduces Okamura Shigeru's major academic achievements and the chacateritic and development of the research of Tao Yuanming in Japan. This chapter is intended to sort out the personal background of Okamura Shigeru's study on Tao Yuanming academic and the macro background of the Japanese Sinology.Chapter 2, based on relevant historical matericals, studies Tao Yuanming's poems and Okamura Shigeru's works, with an attempt to analyze the misreadings of Tao Yuanming'poems, and limitations and mistakes about the evaluations. After making a systematic summary of Okamura Shigeru's viewpoint and his study methods, this part also approach these with critic reasonings.Chapter 3 I summed up the characteristics of Okamura Shigeru's study on Tao Yuanming from three acpects, namely the anticipat judgement, expansion of subjectivity and being overdelailed. From the perspective of Japanese culture and academic atmosphere in the second half of the 20^th century and varies of the culture between China and Japan. It also attempts to reveal the objective and subjective reasons which shaped up the characteristics of Okamura Shigeru's study on Tao Yuanming.In the conclusion part, this thesis based on the case study of Okamura Shigeru, raises some original views on relevant issues in the field of international sinology.
