"Wang A Li V" (往A里V) Structure In Mandarin

In this thesis,we discuss "wang A li V"(å¾€A里V)structure in Mandarin,which hasn't been noticed by other scholars before.The aim of this paper is to analyze the grammatical function of the structure and probe into its development in detail. Besides the foreword and summary,it includes five parts.In chapter one,we analyze the four parts wang,A,li,V's feature of the "wang A li V" structure from the syntactic and semantic perspectives.In chapter two,we divide "wang A li V" structure to four types according to semantic relation between "wang A li" and V.The first type indicates direction;the second kind indicates aspect;the third kind indicates objective;the fourth kind indicates degree.Then,we analyze the different restriction to four parts in different semantic types.We also introduce "wang N li V" structure to analyze the different semantic type in way of cognitive analysis.In chapter three,we describe the syntactic function of "wang A li V" structure in detail."wang A li V" structure can be subject and object,predicate,attributive and parenthesis.According to the related materials,we find that the structure plays mainly the roles of predicate and parenthesis.In this chapter,we also analyze the syntactic feature of predicate and parenthesis.In chapter four,we discuss the difference in syntactic,semantic and pragmatic between predicate and parenthesis,we also try to find why the difference come about. According to the materials,V is restricted when the structure to be parenthesis,V can be shuo说,xiang想,kan看,suanç®—.We think these verbs have already decategorialized,namely,their verbal features have been decreased greatly.It can both be seen in syntax and semantic.Furthermore,we can see the levels of decategorialization of these verbs:shuo＞kan＞xiang＞suan,by comparing their alternative ability.In chapter five,by analyzing the diachronic materials,we can infer that "wang A li V" structure takes shape because of the grammaticalization of "wang" and "li", which has something to do with re-analogy of the "å¾€wang A处chu V" structure.In this chapter,we also analyze the grammaticalization of noun "li".As for semantic, "li" continuously shows desemantic,for syntactic,"li" evolutes into affix,and to zero form eventually,which is called for decategorialize,and for phonetics,[li²¹⁴]＞[li⁰]＞[li⁰]/[l(?)⁰]＞[φ],shows phonetically decay.
