The Study Of The Rites In "ZuoZhuan"

China usually holds the name of "the country of etiquette". "Rites" have an important position in ancient China society. As the first comparatively complete annalistic style historical records and one of the most important culture beings in the pre-Qin period, "Zuo Zhuan" have recorded large amount of historical facts about "rites". From these, we can draw the outline of rites at that time, and discuss the relationship of the rites and the Spring-autumn society. This thesis is totally divided into three chapters.The first: The content and the category of rites in "ZuoZhuan". In this part, we mainly use prehominid's research results, according to the traditional "five gift" classification method (Auspicious rites, Ominous rites, Guest rites, Military rites, Fine rites) ,to classify, sum up, and give brief discussion about the "rites" in "Zuo Zhuan". This is the most important part in this thesis.The second: The ritual destructions and reconstructions in "ZuoZhuan". In the first section, we narrate the ritual destructions from three aspects of abandoning, oversteping and adapting in the Spring-autumn period ,according to the historical facts in "Zuo Zhuan" and point out that the ritual destructions is the summary of the current society situation in a certain sense. In the second section, we discuss the ritual reconstructions in "ZuoZhuan". It mainly spreads out from four aspects respectively: The distinction of the "rites" and the "instrument"—emphasize the inherent spirit of the "rites"; From the ceremonial music to the political rites affairs—emphasize the political ethics norm of the "rites"; Protect the body with the rites—emphasize the significance of the rites to the individual; The fighting of the "rites" and the law—emphasize the law's assisting effect. This four aspects have reflected the people's reconstructions to the traditional rites when they saw the situation of ritual destructions, and showed a direction for future generations.The third: The development of the "rites" in "Zuo Zhuan" and the Spring-autumn period. The development of the "rites" doesn't really emerge out of the void, which is owing to the social stratum's rapid changes in a great extent, among which the scholar stratum's rise abruptly is the most important factor. At the same time the development of the "rites" also has tremendously affected the contemporaries' society scene. Under the big society background of the sanguine and the uneasy active coexistence perplexed, there is one strands of the rethinking strength profoundly. Literature, as the social life's recording, is inevitablely be affected by the development of the "rites", also. Rites brought out the upsurge of writing and citing poems. "The rites cause the human to be in the poem and art." The language of "ZuoZhuan" is noble and elegant. These have had certain influence to the development of later generation's literature.
