Cognitive Language argues the human language is open and dependent. It is the compositive offspring of objective reality, social culture, physiology, cognitive competence. Cognitive Language studies how the human perception, experience and ways of observing the world effect the use of language, especially how to choose different words and grammars to express the non- objective meanings if all of those grammars are normative. Colors are based on physics, but they are also affected by human physiology and mentality. Colors words explain the language should not only be in accord with logics but also be influenced by expression functions, semantic meaning and pragmatic information. Therefore colors words are great proofs of subjective ness of language. There are two characteristics about Chinese classic poems: lyric function and implicit style. So the ancient Chinese poets often created artistic conceptions to indirectly express their emotion. Colors words were frequently used to create artistic conceptions. Colors words in poems not only described the sceneries but also reflected the mentality of the poets.Tang Poetry is regarded as the pinnacle of Chinese classic poems. The colors words in Li He's poetry are the most frequent, and also they are very excellent. So I choose Li He's poetry as my study material.I try to put the language theories, including lexicon semantics and modern cognitive language, into the poem aesthetics to study the colors words in Li He's poetry. I not only analyze the dominant colors words such as black, white, red, and yellow and so on, but also analyze the recessive colors words such as jade, snow. I will study them on both meanings and grammars. Finally, we draw our conclusion: much as the amount of the colors words are, the usages are simple. Most of them are attributives. We find out that the meanings of the same dominant color word are very different in different contexts. So we should analyze the colors words in the specific context.Because the Cognitive Language think the language patterns reflect what the things we describe are, and they also reflect how we observe them. Due to the different perspectives, the focus points, the imagoes the poet want to describe, the poet will chose the different language patterns. When he tends to focus on the color, he used the structure of predication and made the color word predicate. The recessive colors words such as jade, snow are more lively and vivid. Moreover, even if the poet wants to express the same color, he may choose the different recessive colors according to his emotion, attitude, context, which make the colors of things distinct his emotions more clearly. |
