Anlaysis On The Sanxingdui Bronze Mask With Extuding Eyes, The Bronze Holy Tree And The Pattern Of Worshipping Mountain On The Jade Zhang From A Literary Aspect

One of the most important thing to reconstruct the complete ancient Shu worship culture and religional system is to completely investigate the ancient Shu people's ancester sacrifice and worship. The worship activity that focuses on the ancesters probably is the most important and serious way of worship. The bronze mask with extuding eyes, bronze holy tree, the pattern of worshipping mountain on the jade zhang, all are filled with the mental belief and religional concept of the ancient Shu people. To worship their ancesters is the main and the most important part. The ancient Shu has a long history of astronomy. Somehow the sacrifice and worship to their king are related to the fact that the Shu king is a professional at astronomy.This essay is divided into four chapters. The first chapter expatiates on the unique projecting eyes of the sanxingdui bronze mask with extuding eyes which stands for the worshipped Shu people who are professionals at astronomy. And in this respect, the Shu king is a good representative. The second chapter is mainly about the ideas that the bronze tree is used for worship according to the similarity of the sanxingdui bronze holy tree and the jianmu tree mentioned in some ancient materials, such as shanhaijin, huainanzi etc. The sanxingdui bronze holy tree is used for connecting Shu people to the god, and for astronomy usage . All of these usages are closely related to Shu king. The third chapter mainly talks about the reason why the Shu people used the ivory in worship and the worship pattern of the the jade zhang. The forth chapter explains the status of the majestic mountanin Kunlun for the Shu people and its connection to Minshan mountain in order to reveal the meaning of ancient Shu worship acitivities which is to worship their ancester---Shu king..Based on the academic fruits of many professionals on the cultrural relics found in Sanxingdui, my essay's goal is to connect the literature and the cultrural relics with the hope to reveal the ideology of ancester worship and sacrifice through the ware used in ancient Shu worship activities such as the bronze mask, bronze tree and the pattern on the jade zhang etc .
