The Morphological Study On Pujiang Bench Dragon Dance

With Chinese dragon dance as the settings, and Pujiang bench dragon, a folk dragon dance art in Pujiang country,Zhejiang Province , as the specific research subject, the thesis inspects and studies Pujiang bench dragon systematically,guided by the theories of cultural anthropology and dance ecology. There are three purposes of stu dying it: first, to study its history as well as analyse its status in order to protect and carry forward traditional culture;second, to summarize its art feature and enrich the theoretical research about folk dance; third, to discuss its cultrue meaning and social function,excavate its valuation to its continuous development.The thesis consists of the introduction part and four chapters. In the introduction, the studying reasons ,the significance of the subject of the thesis, the current situation of the studies of Pujiang bench dragon and theories and methodologies utilized in this thesis are introduced. Chapter I describes Chinese dragon culture ,the history and feature of dragon dance ,as the backgrounds of the thesis. And studies Pujiang bench dragon's history by both document studying and actual observations; Chapter II,in terms of geography and anthropology,tells the surroundings of Pujiang bench dragon, gives a brief account grand occasion of its performance ,and makes clear its descendants; Chapter III analyzes the forms and styles of Pujiang bench dragon, so as to find out common characteristics existing in Pujiang bench dragon Dance events from perspective of dancing itself; Chapter IV discusse the cultural connotation of Pujiang bench dragon combining the spirits of Chinese dragon dance.
