This dissertation researches the ancient children's reading book "300 Poems of Tang Dynasty". The book's codification purpose, trait, character, function and the impacts on the formation of language literacy for young people are discussed. The research is based on the theories of pedagogics and psychology, and puts the emphasis on the character of "300 Poems of Tang Dynasty" as ancient children's teaching material. Then the dissertation has compared "300 Poems of Tang Dynasty" with other poem reading books and achieved some new traits about structure. These traits is in favor of the learner.Second part, the character of "300 Poems of Tang Dynasty" is researched. The dissertation has compared "300 Poems of Tang Dynasty" with other poem reading books and analyzed the degree of the poems' difficulty, then the educational object is confirmed to be older children. After studied the selecting poem criterion, the book's character as ancient children's teaching material is achieved.Third part, the educational function of the is studied. The principle of Confucian virtue and morality is always mentioned. The impacts including morality and personality on ancient children are analyzed. Then the educational function about sentiment and apperception is demonstrated.Forth part, the impacts on the formation of language literacy for young people are researched. Although the function and status of "300 Poems of Tang Dynasty" are changed today, this book is an assistant reading for young people. The impacts on sentiment, apperception, thinking style for young people are studied primarily. Finally, the realistic value of "300 Poems of Tang Dynasty" is discussed.The results of the research show that "300 Poems of Tang Dynasty" is of important effects as ancient older children's poem teaching material, especially the effects on sentiment and apperception. Today, this book effects importantly on the making of young people. Therefore, "300 Poems of Tang Dynasty" plays an important role in culture.
