The"School-Detention of Qingyuan period"(QingyuanDangjin) which from 1196(Qing yuan 2 nian) to 1222(Jiatai 2 nian) was very important for the academic and political history in Southern Song Dynasty. It started from an interest conflict of officer groups, then turned to attack the academic group, especially to the neo Confucianism. But after the detention dissolved, the neo Confucianism became the government-operated ideology which seemed incomprehensible; it reflected the relationship between politics and academy. It contains three sections in my paper in order to try to explain the relationship.First, mainly analyze the background of the incident. The structure of academy of Song Dynasty(Songxue)changed a lot, the neo Confucianism became the main school. In another hand, it was attracted by persons in or out of the court since it had some bad reflections .And the fate of the neo Confucianism became the main characteristic of school-detention.Second, clarify the process and character of the"School-Detention of Qingyuan period"(Qingyuan Dangjin). It contained three parts and the conflict from political meanings to academic meanings ,and it made the fates of the two groups who took part in the conflict changed obviously.Third, the"School-Detention of Qingyuan period"(Qingyuan Dangjin) reflected the academic and political fates of the neo Confucianism. In academic aspect, the opponent schools such as Shi Gong Xue Pai , Lu Shi Xin Xue decayed after the detention dissolved, but the neo Confucianism pulled out of the tragedy and gained new development. In political aspect, it reflected their academic and political ability.
