The Research Of Jiangxi Businessmen And The Supplies Of Rural Public Goods In The Ming-Qing Dynasties

During the Ming and Qing Dynasties,Jiangxi businessmen,while in the economic gains,also did not forget to repay the society.To this end,a large number of Jiangxi businessmen started to invest in homebuilding one after another since they became rich. A very good example of this was that they actively provided public goods to rural areas. At that time,there were various of ways of supplying rural public goods,like government supply,esquire supply,clan supply,businessmen supply and other groups supply,etc..As for Jiangxi,there were a lot of businessmen there,so businessmen supply was quite evident and its role was particularly significant.They made great efforts to help supply the rural public goods,such as public transportation,public schools,public water conservancy facilities and social relief,social order and so on. They achieved good results.This kind of businessmen supply contributed a lot to the maintenance of social stability in rural areas and to the promotion of the development of rural community.Although businessmen supply to some extent has certain limitations, we can not deny the tremendous significance of the businessmen supply in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.This article consists of three parts:the introduction,the body and the conclusion.The introduction provides an overview of the origins of the topic and its significance.It defines the study,organizes the status quo of relevant research and gives an account of the research methods and research contents.The text is composed of three parts:The first part inspects the situation of the supply of public goods in Ji'an district, Jiangxi province during the Ming and Qing Dynasties.It mainly introduces the diversity of the supply manner of public goods in rural areas,pointing out that businessmen supply is a major one of them.The second part analyses Jiangxi businessmen's modes,contents and purposes of providing rural public goods.There is a mode of individual businessmen supply and also another mode of businessmen and other groups supply together.The main supply is some items that are closely related to rural people's lives,such as irrigation facilities, transportation facilities,public schools,social relief and other aspects of the products and services.Besides for repaying the society,their motivation in providing rural areas these goods was also out of the needs of their own interests.The third part revealed the history status of Jiangxi businessmen's activities of providing rural public goods.It points out that.businessmen supply,though has some limitations,plays a significant role in rural society's stability and development.Finally,it's the conclusion,which mainly gives a brief summary on Jiangxi businessmen and Jiangxi rural social supply of public goods in the Ming-Qing Dynasties.
