In German modern literature history, there is no doubt that Gunter Grass plays an important role, not only because he won the 99th Nobel Prize for Literature but also because he always insists on reflective consciousness in his creative writing for many years. As far as he is concerned, literature is the best educational tool which can educate people to understand history correctly and shoulder his own responsibility towards history. Therefore, His work is always connected with the theme of reflecting history. He tells people that everyone is the participant of history rather than bystanders. It is impossible and ridiculous to realize the attempt to forget the past. This reflective consciousness attaches much importance on the modern literary criticism and literary creation. In Gunter Grass's text, we notice that, the using of lots of religious subjects, is one of the features in his early works. Besides the reason that influenced by the whole German literature after the world war II one of the most important reasons is that ,in the process of writing religious subjects, Grass expresses his own idea towards history apparently or vaguely as well as gradually reveals the right attitude for people towards history. This thesis will take Danzig Triology as an example to analyze his reflective strategies through writing religious subjects.
