His works followed the principles of Psychology Realism ,which riched in minute psychological description and deep peneration to human nature. He experienced two world war and therefore he had deeper understanding of it. Also he was a pacificist who adhered humanism and cosmopolitan persistently. Zweig kept realism style from a unique perspective and obtained wide acceptance and thus made great success in the 20th century in which various and colorful schools emerged. Zweig's Psychology Realism novels carried on the past and opened a way for the future. They demonstrated the succession of traditional 19th century Realism Literature and initiated the way of literature expression in the 20th century. The previous studies on Zweig's novels concerning Psychology Realism generally analyzed the influence of Freud's theories and passion, but there are not many articles involved the influence of realism and the relationship with Steam of Conciousness.This thesis conducted a reasonable cognition and generalization to Zweig's Psychology Realism novels from three aspects based on elaborate reading. The organization of the present paper is as follows:Foreword had an overview of the studies about Zweig's Psychology Realism novels and pointed out the significance and originality of this study.Chapter one presented the relationship between Zweig's novels and Realism Literature of Europe. Zweig's Psychology Realism novels were rooted in European realism literature. Zweig not only produced his works based on the reality, but placed emphasis on details and had a dialectical understanding of the roles'double character.Chapter two analyzed the connection between Zweig's novels and Psychoanalysis. Freud's psychoanalysis had a great effect on Zweig's works. Zweig was good at reflecting reality by mental description and agreed with Freud on the power of unconsciousness and the interpretation of dreams. However, Zweig's novels were not complete copy and reproduction of Freud's theories but succeeded them critically.Chapter three discussed the relationship between Zweig's novels and steam of conciousness. They had the same writing background and historical environment. Both of them had experienced the two world war, analyzed human Psychological course under mental crisis in modern society and found their respective way of expression. Meanwhile, they both accepted the influence of psychoanalysis, but Zweig focused more on the detail description and reflection of reality.Chapter four was the conclusion part. The author fully affirmed the great achievement of Zweig's Psychology Realism novels and discussed the great effect of Zweig as an European and as a Jew on the formation of Psychology realism style.
