The phonetic annotations of Qunjingyinbian, in some degree, presents the phonology system of Northern Song Dynasty, thus have referential value for studying the phonetic condition at that period. Firstly, through comparation of phonetic annotations in both diachronic and synchronic perspectives, the phonetic features reflected in this book are systematically described, with related problems discussed in detail.Initial consonants: the intials fei and fu have converged, feng still keep its own status; chuang and shan have become unvoiced, however, there is no evidence supporting the same tendency of other voiced consonants; Zhi group and Zhao group are close in pronunciation; ying and yu mixed.Finals: zhi, zhi, zhi and wei converged, qi, ji mixed with Zhi group, zhen, zhun, wen and xin converged, han, huan, shan and shan mixed, yuan, xian and xian mingled, the eight finals tan, tan, yan, tian, xian, xian, yan and fan also mixed; it is discovered -i- medial appeared in rhyme jia earlier than in jie, and labial initial characters in you-hou changed into yu-mo, what's more, evidences for proving the existence of rhyme zhi-si are provided.Tones: Shang tone of voiced consonant to Qu tone is a gradual change, and the coexistence of Shang tone and Qu tone can be found. The change took place earlier than the process of voicelesslization and the division of even tone into"Yin"and"Yang". Therefore, phonetic change is a process with periodic natureSecondly, the phonetic notations or Fanqie in Qunjingyinbian was consciously revised by JiaChangchao, the author. New angles, like the phonemic coincidence of the upper and lower Fanqie characters, the contrast of variant pronunciations of word-formation by phonetic alternation, and the double aspirate avoidance of the initial consonants, are adopted for supplementary illustration of the revising methods.Thirdly, the phonetic relations of variant pronunciations, both synonym and polyseme, compiled by JiaChangchao, are focused. Using statistic analysis, the alternation of voiced and unvoiced consonants, of aspirated and unaspirated, and their relations with tones are probed. Finally, variant pronunciations in the book are surveyed from the perspective of Huang Kan's view of phonological"interactive variation", and effects are attempted to distinguish their catagories and strata. Due to the limitedness of materials and lack of ability, the phonetic strata of variant pronunciations await intensive study.
