The neutral tone is such a significant item in Chinese language that many linguists are interested in. So many works have been done upon dialect of Beijing and some other dialects of Northern Chinese, however, few researches have been done upon Hakka & Jiangxi dialect and other dialects of Southern Chinese. Given that, this thesis did some research upon the neutral tone of the dialect of MingHu, which belongs to Hakka & Jiangxi dialect, and, MingHu located in Yugan County, Jiangxi Province.On the base of the dialectology, the thesis introduced the basic information of phonetic of Yugan(Minghu) dialect, and gave a description of the distribution of the neutral tone in the words each of those contains no less than one syllable which has a neutral tone. In order to make out the acoustic properties of it, the author did experiments with praat4.4.34 to study the pitch, continuance and intensity of the syllable with a neutral tone in word or phrase which consists of two or three syllables. The paper also tried to discover the phonological nature of the neutral tone of Yugan(Minghu) dialect under the frame of Optimality Theory.
