It is said that the animals with slight anima can save themselves and cure themselves. If they find something wrong with their bodies, or if they get sick, they will find some herbs in the mountains and fields eat them and solve their physical problems. I wonder whether I have anima, but at least, I knowmyself------where hurts. I have to admit that I had been thinking for quite a longtime that color remained a problem of mine. I used to feel that I couldn't found out the most expressive way until the subtle contrast set me free. It seems that I have finally caught a point on which I can totally rely. With its help, I secretly think that it's just right for color. I am indulged in the reserved, undemonstrative, harmonious, and unspoken feelings produced by the subtle nuance. At least, it appears like that. Psychologically, choosing subtle contrast is a state of mind and mood, or more precisely, a quite egoistic psychological state. Itis plain, quiet, obscure and patient-----with the tendency of being extremelysimple, but at the same time, it somehow fits in the conception of traditional Chinese painting. This is probably connected with the food chain of human beings. In the essay, on one hand, I sum up the experiences and thoughts of individual creation of oil painting, covering the "form, color, spirit and conception", ranging from the easy ones to the difficult ones, the techniques to the intentions, from the substance to the spirit; on the other hand, macrocosmically, I general introduce the traditional Russian realistic, abstract and expression, and Chinese paintings which heavily influence my artwork. Microcosmically, I summarize the characteristics of the subtle contrast in my painting. In the essay, I analyze the forms magically used by the contemporary artists, demonstrate the contemporariness of painting and sum up my conclusion. Art should be developed with the time, both in its form and content. We should not only focus on the images, but more on the voice of our hearts. Art is an enormous image of conception, an echo of the age, and it always arouses our ardent love and enthusiasm for life. |
