The thesis mainly makes a comparative study of the historical narration between Secret History of Mongolia and Records of the Historian. With the analysis of their features in the combination of history and literature and the historical narration of biography, their common characteristics of historical narration are generalized, namely, divinities, stories, biographies, and oral literature. The comparison is made in the aspects of narrative methods, narrative procedures and narrative metre so as to illustrate the traits of Secret History of Mongolia written by historians on the grassland and its different narrative style from Records of the Historian. Meanwhile, the paper also summarizes the influence of the two historical literature masterpieces on the historical works of later ages.
