Jian Zhen, accepted as one of the greatest female writers in Taiwan, has devoted more than twenty years in prose writing. There are elements of poems and novels in her articles. You can even find the elements of art and music. The subjects of her articles are changeable, which can be concluded into the following five aspects: feelings of her hometown, reflections of religions, social criticism, thoughts of life, and views of feminism. What is special is that Jian Zhen considers the society and life itself first as a female, not a writer. Great quantities of the materials I can find about Jian Zhen are focused on her thoughts of feminism. Since I have no interest to add my thesis to this list, I spent a lot of time considering what point of view I should stand in this thesis. Finally, I decided to study Jian Zhen from the angle of the key mood of her life and writing. The purpose of my thesis is to find the impressions that the key mood of Jian Zhen's life have brought to her experience of life and writing. My argumentation is composed of the following five aspects: distance between the reality and her inner world, questions of memory and truth, the female who likes to test and turn over, loneliness forever, death and birth.
