Development Of The Ancient Loom And Evolvement Of The Silk Jacquard's Pattern In China

In this paper, a great deal of literature and archaeological materials was verified by interviewing the libraries and the museums. On the basis of this foundation, the causality of the development of the ancient loom and the evolvement of the silk jacquard's pattern in China was discussed and analyzed by historicizing, comparing, and summarizing. The conclusion was drawn that the evolvement of the traditional jacquard's pattern in China was not only affected by the aesthetic taste, social culture and intercommunication with foreign countries but also restricted strictly by the development of the loom.The purpose of the paper was to illustrate the promotion action of the technique to design, which included technique and arts. The development of Design will have a good future only by the connection of these two parts. Silk jacquard's pattern, which embodied the relationship between the technique and the arts profoundly, was close connection with loom. The research has some important reference value to the further research on the development of the ancient loom and the history of Chinese silk pattern.
