Study On The Loneliness And Limitied Relief Of Liu Zongyuan's Poems In The YongZhou Period

Liu Zongyuan is a poet with talent and ambition who lives in the middle of Tang Dynasty. He used to participate in the "Yong Zhen Innovation" with great fervor as a Court official. But the "Yong Zhen Innovation" and its defeat completely changed his life, he was demoted to a uncultivated land named Vinhchau where he was idle as "Sima" for ten years.The dim situation, the character of "simple minded" which does not agree the temporal world, and the sedimentary deposits by "fate and talent interfer each other since time immemorial", finally drived the man who had the ambition to provide relief to the world into deeply alone. In order to get rid of the reality perplex and the mind pressure, and to find a point of support for his soul which had been tortured by the pain and solitude from the reality, he once tried to walk up to history, home, nature, and the Buddhism.These special actions the poets took for his own spirit saving, has really played a certain role in extinguishing his alone mood, alleviating the conflict between survival and the environment, and the maintaining the balance between spirit and the psychological.But to a Confucianist who carried the belief of "conducing to times and things", these efforts temporarily relieved his mind, but were unable to let him be philosophy and aloof fundamentally. Because he couldn't abandon the obsession of temporal world and the bitterness of demotion thoroughly, and his mind was sticked to some past things toughly.His attitude toward life has melted into his marrow and became a spiritual burden, and didn't make him give up the idea forever although he suffered a lot setbacks in the struggle and felt sad inside. No matter what kind of effort he try to relief himself and clear up the solitude, he couldn't help looking back to the temporal world.Thus, his effor to walk up to history, home, nature, and the Buddhism, played limited role in extinguishing his deeply alone mood.
