Reading has been playing an important role in EFL teaching which acts as a fundamental and indispensable component. Improving learners'reading abilities is the key to the success of EFL teaching. However, in traditional EFL teaching model, too much attention has been paid to the learners'cognitive factors at the expense of their inner worlds. In this sense, it's necessary to pay attention to both cognitive factors and affective factors in the teaching process, changing the traditional TCA (Teacher-centered Approach) into the LCA (Learner-centered Approach), emphasizing students'individual factors. Therefore, the primary objective of the study is to determine whether the application of Humanistic Learning Approach in EFL teaching can improve students'reading abilities.Based on the Humanism which is mainly put forward by Abraham Maslow and Carl Rogers, the study is proved by an experiment. The subjects in the experiment were divided into the EC (Experimental Class) and the CC (Control Class) randomly, and the comparison was made between the EC and the CC from the two reading tests and a questionnaire. The results were presented by processed the data in quantitative and qualitative ways. Based on the above data analysis, the conclusion has been drawn from the following three aspects: LCA is an effective way to improve teaching effect; Stimulating learners'positive affective factors can greatly facilitate the learning process; The application of CL (Cooperative Learning) is a good form to organize learning activities. In a word, Humanistic Learning Theory has some positive effects on improving the present passive situation in the teaching of EFL reading.
