As translation researches turned its attention to cultural problems, the translator's subjectivity has drawn the attention of translation scholars at home and abroad and thus become one of the hot issues in the translation field. Based on the previous research, the author begins with defining the concepts of the subject and translator's subjectivity, and then reveals its necessity and inevitable display.Any argumentation focusing on any topic has to be built on some theoretical foundation and the translator's subjectivity is no exception. For this reason, Gadamer's hermeneutics is taken as the theoretical foundation so to analyze the translator's subjectivity thoroughly. On this basis, the thesis summarizes the main elements embodying the translator's limited subjectivity, the translator as a reader and a writer as well as his choice of translation strategy. Finally the author points out that the subjectivity can almost be seen everywhere in translated texts by analyzing different versions of Tao Yuan Ming's poems.
