The Connection Between The Pedigrees And The Vicissitudes Of Society In Kunshan County During Ming And Qing Dynasties

Ming and Qing dynasties saw many Pedigrees in Kunshan county. The Pedigrees live both in cities and in the countryside. They took part in all kinds of local business and develop tight connections with the government and local society. This master'thesis analyses and synthesizes the distinguish families in Kunshan county in the Ming-qing times. Then from three angles——politics, economic and culture, it makes the prominent families and the vicissitudes of local society as main thread and puts the pedigrees in Kunshan into the vertical and horizontal coordinate that is formed by the history of Ming-qing dynasties and Kunshan county society. Vertically, it examines and studies the change of distinguished families and the relation between the prominent families and the government; horizontally, it examines and studies the social conditions that form the pedigrees, the connection between the pedigrees and the development of area economic, the relation between the pedigrees and the development of area culture. From the above aspects, I make an initial analysis of the interactive relation between the pedigrees in Kunshan county and the vicissitudes of local society, also hope to enrich the knowledge of the research of the pedigrees through an angle of new community so as to give a new example for the research of the distinguished families.
