"Leisure", as a conception which can be defined in many different perspectives, is thought to be a way of exceeding human alienation and regaining life liberty by Karl Marx and Friedrich Schiller. Both of them think that"leisure"is the free creation beyond the forced labor. Chinese scholar Wang Guo-wei elaborates the ideas about how to spend leisure time in his two articles. This paper decides to define"leisure"in cultural perspective and tries to find the close connection between"leisure"and aesthetic creation. With Wang Guo-wei's two articles, the paper points that aesthetic creation is the highest-quality way of"leisure". Base on this point, the paper discusses the question about what influence can ancient Chinese intellectuals' existent way and space bring to their literature creation in the perspective of"leisure aesthetics", and points that their choices of seclusion are also the choices of"leisure".As a famous hermit in the history of Chinese, Tao Yuan-ming is chosen to be a typical case to which the paper will give concrete research. By analyzing how his main patterns of"leisure"affect his literature creation, the paper emphasizes that writing poems is a good way for him to express his seclusion, also a good way to spent his leisure time. Besides, the paper intends to discover the deep connection between"leisure"and"Xu jing", which is a very important literature creation theory and approved by many ancient Chinese writers. In this point, the paper will research two literature theories"Ru Xing Gui Xian"and"Tao Jun Wen Si, Gui Zai Xu Jing", which put forward by Liu Xie, and will also put attention to the idea of Zhuang zi's"Xiao Yao You", try to discover what enlightenment can this kind of life pattern give to modern people.
