The Discussion And Narration On The Relation Between Ming Dynasty And Wangshi Gaoli

The border of China and North Korea was on connected and they closely related since old times. To the end of Yuan and the beginning of Ming, the dynasty of Central Plains Area is changing. The situation has been extremely turbulent, the Chinese and North Korean relations also becomes extremely complicated. In Hongwu years, the Ming dynasty has just been established and the whole country has not been completely united. The remaining forces of Yuan dynasty are still very active in the north of Mongolia. In the Korean Peninsula, the political power was Wangshi Goli that has been established for more than 400 years and has the close relation with the Yuan dynasty. The complicated situation made the relation between newly-built Ming and Wangshi Gaoli very unstable. At the same time, the important changes between China and North Korea border also occurred in this period. Gaoli took the chance that the central plains dynasty had no time to take care when the dynasty were changing, expand northwards rapidly and pushed the whole border to the north. This action lined the foundation for the Yalujing River and Tumenjiang River as the border line in the later time. Predecessors made a lot achievements on the research of the relatiom and border between China and North Korean, but there are still some insufficient. This thesis makes detailed division of the relation change between the two countries, explores the impact factors and their influence of the relation between two countries. It attempts to combine the historical status and ruling thought in that period to understand the relation between two countries and find out the reason why Ming Taizu removed the Tieling Wei. This thesis combines the ancient data and geographic boundaries research, adopts concrete historical fact and geographical position to show the expansion of Gaoli and the change of China and North Korean border from the northeast and northwest.This thesis is divided into three chapters. The introduce part mainly introduces the relation and border territorial issues between Ming and Wangshi Gaoli in the early Ming dynasty. It also introduces the status, value and significance of the study and raises the study method and mind of this paper. Chapter one consists of four parts. The first part dissertates the rigorous situation that the Ming dynasty faced in the initial period and the good-neighborly and friendly diplomacy policy that Ming Taizu adopted in this situation. The second part introduces the domestic situation of Wangshi Gaoli. It also introduces the thought of captive and Shidanism that Gaoli adopted to safeguard their interests. The third part analyzes the function that Yuan dynasty played in the development of bilateral relations. The fourth part elaborates the concrete action and development of the relation between the two countries.Chapter two consists of three parts. The first part introduces the process that the relation of the two countries became bad for Gaoli betrayed Ming and relied Yuan. The second part narratives the situation that after the efforts of the two countries especial Gaoli, the relation between Ming and Gaoli got resumed. The third part introduces the border between China and North Korean in Yuna and former dynasties. It also describes the rule of Gaoli's northward expansion and narratives the initial undertaking of Ming in this period in details.Chapter three consists of three parts. The first part introduces the action that Ming Taizu began to concentrate on uniting the northeast after the situation of southeast and southwest got stable. It also narratives the institutions that set by Ming in northeast. The second part discusses the setting up of Sanwan Wei and Tieling Wei and the process of Xinyu attacked Liaodong. The third part analyzes that Ming Taizu's cool attitude towards Gaoli is an important reason why the relation of the Ming and Gaoli were in the period of stagnation. This chapter also analyzes the reason why Ming removed the Tieling Wei.The conclusion summaries the contents of the first three chapters and after analyzing, it gets that the resumption of Ming towards Chaoxian peninsula was completely failed. Meanwhile, Ming Taizu's ideological that the big country should not angry with the small country's foolish action and the fuzzy of the border misled the definition of China and North Korean in the later times.
