Gu kuang is the renowned poet of the early period of the Middle Tang Dynasty, and the period of his creation covers the distance of Dali to Zhenyuan. He is the unprecedented poet, who develops the poem in Middle Tang and paves the way for the coming poem development based on the excellent poem heritage. He is the unique poet with rebel and romantic bearing, who produces the special style poem among the flat, soft poem air of that time, by the blending of vulgarity and elegance. The thesis discusses his poem on the principle that the research of the poem is based on his background. To begin with, it introduces his life experience, his social and wild disposition and explores the influence of traditional Jiangnan Culture, the one of blending the softness and toughness and the one produces the arrogant scholar. In addition, it focuses on the poem artistic features in five aspects: the awareness of the Jiangnan Culture, the romantic imagination, rhetoric techniques, intense subjective color, and the humorous style. Finally, it carefully examines Gu Kuang's value and status in the history of literature status by investigating and estimating his influence on Yuan Bai school and Han Meng school on Yuanhe poetic world.
