Abstract/Summary:
Selecting the Imperative Verbs in "ZuoZhuan" as object, assessing with a semantic field as a unit, the writer described syntax of the words specific model, demonstrated how it affects their syntactic functions from the point of view of lexical meaning. The writer abstracted their own semantic feature mainly from comparing the meaning of words, and demonstrated the syntax structure and function of different underlying causes of the Imperative Verb, discussing the meaning of Imperative Verb and its significance in ancient Chinese terms and its possibility of syntax from the cognitive theory. We learn that the Imperative character in verb can constitute dual-function constituent style in the grammar and sentence structure. Being attributed to the same type of cognate word, though, as different kind of sememe of "Ming" and "Ling", they are diverse in the choice of subject and content of the language. The word "Shi" in the same semantic field has been nominal as a result of high-frequency use. And in forming dual-function constituent structure, the word "Shi" mixed with other sentence type, thus, caused relatively rich language types. This grammatical function was what the non-nominal "Ming" and "Ling" do not have. The paper consists of four parts, the first chapter is the introduction, that is, the overview of this research, the theory and research methods in the paper. Chapter Two gives a detailed analysis of the syntactic structure and function of the verb Imperative. Chapter Three shows the meaning of words' influence of syntactic structure and function and structure model through finding a thread. Chapter Four is the conclusion with summarized results and theoretical understanding.
