Xunzi's Thoughts About The Relationship Between Heaven And Humanity And Its Singnificance

With its rapid development ,the industrialization had brought human with great profits. The human being enjoyed the achievements which the industrialization brings. However, Just like a double-edged sword, the scientific technology would bring both advantages and disadvantages .When it brings the material profits .Meanwhile,it also unfolds"the box of vanity"and a lot of problems. For example, the industrialization has ruthless devastated the ecological balance of nature, exhausted resource, pollution of environment , hothouse effect, the reduction of nature, exhausted resource, water erosion and many other problems. The negative problems derived from the industrialization. It has increasing intimidated the existence and developments of human being. Following the rapid development of modern industrialization, it brings the negative effects about existence and environment. All those obliged people who has to review the pattern of development, the pattern of ideology and the value concept, that they has conformed. Therefore, we endeavoring to find a sustainable way which can meet the demand of the contemporary and it will not endanger the descendants. We strive to find coordination between the population, resource, environment and economic society. When we beset by these problems, we'd better look back the kernels of the antiquity sage thoughts. This will has implication and significance about dealing with the relationship between man and nature.The thesis emphatic introduced Xun Zi's thoughts about the relationship between heaven and humanity, who was a materialists in the period before Qin Dynasty. As a materialist, Xun Zi pulled down the superstition about the"heaven"since Yinzhou Dynasty, and he put forward the"dividing between heaven and humanity"viewpoint. He suggested that the heaven was objective nature. There were moon, sun, wind, rain, water, fire, grass, bird and so on in the universe. All of them are indispensable parts of nature. Xun Zi emphasized the regular pattern of nature, which was inherent in nature. The regular pattern of nature will not change because of human's subjective will. Therefore, humanity shouldn't contest with nature.But, Xun Zi emphasized that humanity shouldn't passive before nature simultaneously and humanity should cognize and manage the law of nature positively in order to realize the harmonious relationship between man and nature. Since the objective law of nature although will not decide and reign the fate of humanity directly, but human's behavior whether conformed to and accommodated to the law of nature, whether the cognition about nature was correct, all of these were essential to the fate of humanity. Anyone should not escape the objective influence of the law of nature. Humanity ought to treat nature with correct attitude, so humanity will obtain good results, otherwise it will opposite.From the material perspective, Xun Zi expressed the thoughts about respecting the law of nature, protecting and using reasonable of surroundings and harmonizing the relationship between man and nature and consciously protecting the ecological balance of nature.The rich idea and consciousness of ecological surroundings in Xun Zi's thoughts are imbued with wise thinking of relationship between man and nature. The second part stated the main contents of Xun Zi's thoughts about the heaven and humanity:⑴.the dividing between heaven and man;⑵.remaking and exploitation of nature based on the respect for objective law;⑶.from nature people may get valuable enlightenments in dealing with the relationship between man and nature;⑷.Economical using nature and establish the harmonious and sustainable development between man and nature.The third part of the thesis analyses the characteristics of Xun Zi's thoughts about the nature and man. At the last paragraph, the thesis expounded the significance of Xun Zi's thoughts about nature and man.
