The Possibility And The Historical Mission Of Constructing Universal Ethic

Since from the last century 90's, Universal Ethic gradually has become the hot spot of the applied ethics research. However, because of different angle and method of the research, scholars have not yet achieved unanimous cognition to Universal Ethic. Mainly from the angle of the definition of Universal Ethic's concept, through theoretically analyzing the possibility and the barrier of constructing Universal Ethic, the significance and the historical mission of constructing Universal Ethic are pointed out. All the contents are mainly elaborated from the following four parts.Chaper1: Universal Ethic's connotation and characteristic. Universal Ethic's characteristic is pointed out, through recalling the historical origin of Universal Ethic, pointing out the historical background of the construction, and defining the concept of Universal Ethic.Chaper2: the necessity of seeking Universal Ethic and the possibility of constructing Universal Ethic. The intrinsic and realistic bases of constructing Universal Ethic are mainly analyzed. Simultaneously, what are objectively pointed out is that constructing Universal Ethic is not problem-free , because of the barrier of the thought aspect as well as the barrier from the reality.Chaper3: the way of constructing Universal Ethic. The way of constructing Universal Ethics is elaborated emphatically from four aspects: from the angle of seeking the lowest Universal Ethic, from the angle of seeking the moral mutual recognition in the multiculture, from the angle of absorbing resources from traditional culture of various countries, from the angle of discussing the construction of Universal Ethic on the basis of the international law.Chaper4: the historical mission of Universal Ethic. Through analyzing the long and arduous process of constructing of Universal Ethic, the remoteness of constructing Universal Ethic, as well as the significance of the research of Universal ethic, is pointed out.
