In this paper, the author has chosen two representative parts of overseas Chineseliterature (OCL)—Chinese literature of Singapore and Malaysia and ChineseAmerican literature. New Historicism theory is introduced into the research on OCL. By studying the development of these two parts of Chinese literature and the case study of the text of Li Zishu who is the new born writer of Malaysia and Singapore literature, the author carries on a study on the complex relationship between oversea Chinese and the mainstream ideology of their residence country. Besides that, the author also reveals the history of the oversea Chinese's growth and spirit. There are three parts in this article. The first part: the name of overseas Chinese literature and its research present situation. This part is mainly on the category of the research, namely, the name of overseas Chinese literature, and then the author discusses the difficulties in naming this conception. At last, the author outlines the present situation of the overseas Chinese literature. The second part: the overseas Chinese literature under the marginal ideology. New Historicism "ideology function" theory is introduced into the research on Chinese literature of Malaysia and Singapore and Chinese American literature .It is consist of two aspects: first, consolidation of the relationship (Chinese literature of Malaysia and Singapore ) .There are three stages in the development on Chineseliterature of Malaysia and Singapore in 20 century: early 1920s—early 1950s; early1950s—early 1980s; early 1980s to this day. In the text, we can see the change ofthe Chinese mentality, that is: from strong national consciousness to the identification of residence country culture. In this process, Chinese literature of Malaysia and Singapore has achieved the assimilation of the mainstream residence country culture by constructing its subjectivity and uniqueness as well. Chinese literature of Malaysia and Singapore also has the containment of mainstream ideology even the cooperation unconsciously .Second, subverison of the relationship ( Chinese American literature). Taiwan writer emigration community of 1950s, 1960s and the mainland writer new emigration community is the backbone of American Chinese literature. There among, the heroes in Taiwan writer emigration community's text are the "rootless generation" , but they all have a persistence of their Chinese identity. Meanwhile, the mainland writer new emigration community' works put up the their subversion of the American mainstream ideology in a more calmness mentality. The last part: the highlight of the historicity of texts and the texuality of thehistories—the case study of Li Zishu's novels. This part is composed of threeaspects: 1, turn History into history; 2, the jocosity of the history; 3, the morphologization of the marginal ideology. The New Historicism narrative strategy is introduced in to her series text which reconstruct the history of Chinese and reveal the process that how the Malaysia Chinese are assimilated by mainstream ideology. We find out that the Chinese southeast Asian literature has more consolidation to the mainstream ideology unconsciously. Meanwhile, the Europe—Chinese American literature and the mainstream ideology forms a subversion relationship. Certainly, these consolidation and subversion relationships are very complicated in many situations.
