From the material which grasps on hand, between the Chinese writer Shen Congwen and the Japanese writer Kawabata Yasunar certainly does not have direct relation of influence and inherit, but the similar cultural context, the life experience, the disposition makings, the literature ideal actually cause these two who lived at the same time to present many similarities in their creations, therefore, between them has the very strong commeasurability.Shen Congwen and Kawabata Yasunar all lived in the cultural linguistic environment of the big collision between East and West culture , as eastern writers, the cultural standpoint as well as the success which obtained from this under the strong impact of western culture, without doubt can provide some enlightenment and the model to promote the Eastern literature toward the world. In addition, Shen Congwen and Kawabata Yasunar all had intense national consciousness, and all penetrated in the creation excavates and displayed the traditional culture of their own nation. Tracing the imilarities and differences of their creations, we will find the subtle relations of traditional culture between China and Japan, which there are profound differences behind the enormous similarities.The first chapter emphatically elaborated the culture choice and the literature independence of Shen Congwen and Kawabata. In the intense conflict of western culture, two writers did not follow blindly others'choice, but carried on the exploration by themselves, and finally found their own positions in East and West culture union. Their literature thought have many consistent facts, such as not imagination but reality ,not politics but reality ,pursuing literature eternal value, but at the fact of departing from the time and reality Kawabata is more prominent. In estheticism, two all had their distinctive qualities, Shen Congwen esteemed the vitality, and manifested the strong prosperous vitality thing to take beauty displayed, while Kawabata regarded beauty and evil as an entitle thing, and frequently sought beauty in evil, or made evil to beauty.The second chapter mainly elaborates the nature esthetic consciousness of Shen Congwen and Kawabata Yasunar. In the works of Shen Congwen and Kawabata Yasunar, the natural description is most essential."The nature estheticism"grasps the characteristics of the two, which does not merely make the concrete description to the natural appearance, moreover takes the nature as a living individual to display. Gaining this esthetic angle makes source of the precise assurance of the philosophy thought of the East"ne gathered with sky and person".The third chapter mainly elaborates the local complex of Shen Congwen and Kawabata Yasunar. Massive works of Shen Congwen and Kawabata Yasunar all have the tone of the native soil. Actually, just the description of sex and affection demonstrates two writers' excellent courage and wisdom thought of the human nature. Shen Congwen reveal and criticize the human nature distortion and the disassimilation brought by "civilization" with the contrast between city sex and affection shape and the western Hunan sex and affection shape, while Kawabata explored personal in-deep desire by the prominent performance abnormal sex and affection, which concealed the critique of modern civilization. In their performance and analysis of sex and affection all obviously see the influence of Floyd psychoanalysis theory.The fifth chapter mainly elaborates the tragedy consciousness of Shen Congwen and Kawabata. It was originated not only from profound feeling individual misery, unfortunate but also from the understanding of time and the national misery, has the profound connotation. In their tragedy novels, they have explored the social root and the cultural origin which produces the tragedy, and carried on to the main body of tragedy, in which has passed through writers' humanitarianism thought and care for humanity. Shen Congwen "faced pain with smile ", while Kawabata exaggerated the sad sentiment as far as possible. The different expression way of tragedy emotion inherits its national culture spirit.
