English East India Company was established in 1600 with obtaining first charter and dismissed in 1874 without renewal of the charter, as long as it was the emergence and evolution of 274 years. In the early modern period, as an important and influence overseas trading company, English East India Company had made the tremendous contribution to English overseas trade development and economic society transformation. England was being transition from traditional society to modern society, which the mercantilism was in vogue. During the 1600-1784 years, evolution of English East India Company was one of the points of penetration understanding that English society was being transformed. Based on the explanation of its charters, this paper inspect, analysis, summarized the company, taking its origin and development as a master line. In the re-evaluation process, English East India Company's status is realized in the English economic society reforming time.In the preface, this paper reviewed domestic and foreign concerned the achievement and insufficiency which English East India Company is studied, then proposed in the research involved basic concept and research mentality. From three different periods, this paper stated the value and meaning based on the explanation of its charters.Chapter 1: In the fundamental period, English East India Company was mainly engaged in commercial trade. During this period, English East India Company was a typical commercial organization, mainly engaging in the merchandise trade between England and Asia, especially India. As a commercial organization, English East India Company, an increasingly powerful economic strength, as far as England was concerned, gradually became an important foundation of overseas trade in Asia. In addition, English East India Company also possessed a large number of executive privilege to enjoy greater autonomy, and could act the relatively independent basis of the relevant provisions of its charters. Therefore, from the beginning, English East India Company was an important tool for the implementation of Mercantilism policies.Chapter 2: In the transformation period, English East India company politics and trade unified gradually. Having the basic framework of the colonial administration, English East India Company gradually evolved into a huge commercial, political, military and judicial body. Based on the principle of the charters, to a certain extent, English East India Company in Britain was an independent state outside the regime, enjoying greater autonomy than ever before. However, English government hoped that the company could expand the scope of the rule in India, and continue to engage in commercial trade. After all, English East India Company was not a purely political organization, and one of its main objectives was in pursuit of commercial interests and trade. Therefore, English East India Company was a powerful tool for the implementation of Mercantilism policies.Chapter 3: In the adjustment period, English East India Company was a colony management structure. As a commercial organization, English East India Company continued to play an important role in foreign trade. However, English government had virtually replaced the company's power in India, and its right to independence was also very limited. To the company, English state power was not bound by an external force, but gradually came to the power structures embedded in the domestic force, which had become an agent of English government in India. Thus, the company lost its original objectives and interests, and was no longer an independent body. Therefore, English East India Company' mission basically ended as an important tool for the implementation of Mercantilism policies.In conclusion, to its representative charters generalized analysis, an essential question has been realized that English East India Company was an important tool for the implementation of Mercantilism policies in early modern England.
