This research is based on the situation of Chinese Army Hospital Management and the acknowledge to the job of head nurse. The research is divided into 3 parts, which are constructing the head nurse transition competency model,constructing the head nurse competency model and testing the head nurse competency model.⑴Construct the head nurse transition competency model First of all, made out the outline of the interview. Then, got the Chinese Army hospital head nurse transition competency model by estimating the importance of the competencies.⑵Construct the head nurse competency model Compiled Army hospital head nurse competency evaluated questionnaire the head nurse transition competency model. Then, tested the validity,reliability,item discrimination of the questionnaire. Got the head nurse competency model which was based on the construction of the questionnaire at last.⑶Test the head nurse competency model Tested the competency model by examined the difference in the performance of the different competent head nurse. Used SPSS 12.0 software to deal with the data. Used Independent Samples Test,Descriptive Statistics to deal with the data of Army hospital head nurse competency evaluated questionnaire. Used Factor Analysis,Independent Samples Test to analyze the validity,reliability,item discrimination of the questionnaire. Used the Independent Samples Test,ONE WAY-ANOVA to test the reliability of the model.The conclusions to the research are: ⑴The model is divided into 4 parts, which are Knowledge,Skills,Abilities and Characteristics. There is one dimension in Knowledge part which was the Knowledge of related department. This dimension is made up by 3 factors, which are communicating with the related department,knowing the basic knowledge of the related department and knowing the prior knowledge of the related department.There are 3 dimensions in the Skill part. The dimensions are training nurse,planning and researching. There are 5 factors in Training Nurse, 2 factors in Planning and 2 factors in Researching.The Ability Part is made up by only one dimension, which is com-munication. There are 3 factors in the dimension, which are communicating with the staff,communicating with the related department and communicating with the head officer.The Characteristic Part included 2 dimensions, which are being the example and attentive/self-confident. There are 2 factors in being the example and 2 factors in attentive/self-confident as well.⑵The construction of Army hospital head nurse competency model is reasonable and reliable. The model can distinguish the top-bottom head nurse effectively.⑶The difference in the degree to the competency of head nurse is caused by personal characters. There are difference between Age and Education. But no difference on Working Years.⑷The high performance is caused by competent behaviors not by acknowledge of the competency.
