After the Second World War, French government faced with a housing problem, a large number of people were pleased to have decent shelter, while the rest would be happy to exchange their present living quarters for better ones. In order to change such tragic situation , French government implemented a series of domestic policies, builded a large number of low-rent housing complex in the suburbs of Paris and other major cities, which has largely easing the housing crisis and has played a positive role in post-war economic recovery. But such low-cost houses far away from the cities, lacking of relative supporting facilities. As the housing crisis became less severe, and as the grands ensembles developed acute social problems, residents became less grateful and more willing to voice their dissatisfaction with politicians who seemed unable to meet their needs.
