It considers that the Shen Congwen'snovel narration has experienced from unconsciousness to consciousnessagain to unconsciousness process and has brought the renewal in thecontent of the traditional basic topic by the earlier period narration, whichhas initiated fluent narration and the unique style formation of novel inthe later period. Without the early narrative explanation, it cannot havethe later narrative creation. The thesis falls into two parts:Introduction: First it reviews the narration change of the Chineseancient novel and has the correct appraisal to the theory in itssuccessional variation process. On the one hand it models on thedevelopment of the novel history, on the other hand it shines theadvancement of the theory. And it introduces the impact of Westernnarrative theory to Chinese modern-contemporary literature, according towhich it locates the time linguistic environment this article researches andthe significance of this topic.Part One: The narrative characteristics of early novel. It falls into four parts separately: the plot structure, the narrativerhythm, the narrative angle and the narrator inquisition of the ShenCongwen's novel.Chapter One: It defines two concepts: The defamiliarization and thebreak point which both are the symbol and way to form the unique feature of the structure. And the former causes the anticipation field ofvision to have transition, but the latter is the end of the anticipation fieldof vision.Chapter Two: The rhythm is an important target to weigh the feelingof reading a novel, but the early novel overemphasizes on narration of thecontent which has the verbosity feeling. Only few works havedemonstrated cunningness of narration, becoming the continuation of thetransition-period.Chapter Three: The relationship of the narrator's status and thenarrative content are the key points of the analysis of this part;Chapter Four: The effects that the narrative angle brings include thecognition, the emotion, the value orientation and the environmentcreation which simultaneously .make the different angles to be classifiedand stable.Part Two: The continuation and the evolution of novel narration inthe mature period.Similarly it falls into four parts, the difference is that only theprogressive relations and key points are changing during the evolution.Chapter One: The plot structure has a brighter characteristic in thisperiod, which not merely controls the reader's reading sensationsuperficially, but narrates in-depth. The fission of the axle center storyappears and the end hypothesis gives birth as well as the mutual articleframe appears.Chapter Two: Rhythm is strengthened. The novel has formed theunique feeling of speed, which on the one hand controls the reading senseand organ and on the other hand optimizes the content layout. Chapter Three: Entering the later period, the preliminary narrationangle stresses on the narration of the view angle. The so-called narrationof the view angle emphasizes more on the angle of observation anddeepens the dynamics of narration.Chapter Four: As a discussion topic, the symbolization depends onthe status and the function in the whole narration. In the later novel, thesymbolization is an acme of special image development which becomesthe rare and beautiful flowers of Shen Congwen's novel. Conclusion: Narration does not defend stubbornly on a pattern. Forthe pattern Shen Congwen's novel returns to original state -without anypattern, its narrative achievement has created a new high tide in the novelhistory.
