Left-wing Writers' League sets the social practice as a yardstick ofits literary and artistic advocacy and real creation concerning reportorialliterature, which is rich in ideas and thoughts. The reportorial literaturehas not been reduced to a chorological and regional concept of literature, such as to revolutions, wars and so on, nor has it been confined to certainworks, characters, events, or plots. It is more of a concept of noblethoughts that are tightly linked to it. It carries the ordeals of the Chinesenation, and bursts with passion of life, thus bringing home to us the pulseof the times and the ideological changes of that era: under the advocacyof the Left-wing Writers' League and through its practice, the reportorialliterature in its creations met the demand of the revolutionary wars intime, faithful revealed the truth about the violent social and historicalrevolutions and the mighty and magnificent struggles, and recorded withimpassioned and exciting words the history of the Chinese nation'spowerful War of Resistance Against Japan and the national anti-feudalrevolution; its theoretical research created and explained the three textualtheories of concept-introducing, frame-defining, and theme-explainingone by one, expressed its original form and essential values, initiated itsform of languages and defined its boundary of expressions, and pushedforward its future development. Therefore, from the angle of the historyof the reportorial literature's development, the Left-wing Writers' Leaguefunctions as a forerunner. This thesis, with reportorial literature and the Left-wing Writers'League in the 1930s as its subjects, conforms to the following threeprinciples when selecting and analyzing the materials: the authors ofreportorial literature were once members of the Left-wing Writers'League; the content of reportorial literature and the way in which it iscreated responded positively to the literary advocacy proposed by theLeft-wing Writers' League concerning reportorial literature; the works of reportorial literature reflected and to some extent stood for the charactersof the times in which the Left-wing Writers' League existed.
