| Five volumes of The Chu-Dynasty Slips of Warring States Collected by Shanghai Museum have been successively published, involving 28 original ancient books of Warring States on literature, history, politics, religion, philosophy, military affairs, etc. With abundant contents of high academic value, these Chu-Dynasty slips have attracted great attention and caused another sensation of studying the Chu characters in the fields related.This thesis mainly deals with The Chu-Dynasty Slips of Warring States Collected by Shanghai Museum Vol.2. It is divided into three parts altogether.The first part briefly introduces the materials of Vol.2 and summarizes the studies on it.The second part, which is the main body of the thesis, comprises seven notes referring to some characters from the bamboo slips in Vol.2. Some offer new interpretations by analyzing the different views and distinguishing the similar character components, some discuss the intimate relationship between the characters in their font styles, pronunciations and meanings, others analyze the connotations of several relevant characters by comparing their font styles and usages in the context.The third part is the appendix, the layout of all the characters in Vol.2, which includes Text, Hewen, Chongwen and the Indefinite. The Text is arranged according to the order of"Yun"and"Sheng". The parts of Hewen and Chongwen are arranged in the same way yet do not indicate the name of"Yun"and"Sheng". The Indefinite are arranged in order of their positions in Vol.2. Besides, the source of each font is also indicated for ease of reference. |
