A Discussion On Jin's Rites Of Sou

"Sou Ritual"belongs to Army Ritual of Five Rituals in ancient China. It plays a very important role in politics and social activity of Jin State."Sou Ritual"is transformed from Chou Li, therefore, it is necessary to introduce the origin and development of"Sou Ritual"before discussing.In the first part of this dissertation, I discuss the origin and development of"Sou Ritual"and analyze the effect of it in ancient society on the ground of scholars'research, coordinating the content and the theoretic of anthropology. Second part is the core of dissertation. I introduce different"Sou Ritual"in Jin State history and analyze the reason of its rising. Then I discuss the politics and society of Jin State which reflected from"Sou Ritual"in different way. It is also the main point of this dissertation."Sou Ritual"is only a special phenomena in special time, so I try to analyze the reason of its rising and then generalize its function and status. The third part of this dissertation, I conclude the general characteristic of"Sou Ritual"by comparing"Sou Ritual"of other States such as Lu, Qi, Zheng etc. It is the conclusion of this dissertationSo the conclusion of this dissertation is that the origin of"Sou Ritual"is ancient hunting. The theme of its development are fighting and entertainment in hunting."Sou Ritual"play a protecting role in social structure and order. The"Sou Ritual"of Jin State has tight relationship with politics and society. It reflect the power relationship not only between King and qingzu but inside qingzu in politics, and maintain the domination status of Jin State. Socially, it civilize people. But to qingdafu it concerns about promotion. On the other hand, the primary characteristic of Jin State"Sou Ritual"are the ritual of promoting general, instituting policies and changing system of army.
