With the further reforms in the system of higher education and the vigorous development of education, the enrollment scale of universities is expanded, so more and more students have the chance to receive higher education. A system, in which the cost of higher education is reasonably shared by the country, society, school and individual, now is gradually being formed. In 1997, all the universities adopted the policy of"incorporation". Especially since 1999, the university expansion was started all over the country. In the long term, as a symbol of milestone, it is a good means. But following it is the problem that it is difficult for the poor excellent students to afford education and the problem now becomes more and more serious. According to the statistics from the Ministry of Education, in 1999, there are 1050000 poor students among the 5600000 university students; in 2000 the number of the poor students increases to 1420000. In 2002, there are 9530000 students in the national general universities, in which the number of the poor students is 1820000( among them the number of particularly poor students is 790000), accounting for 19%( the particularly poor students account for 8% of all the university students) of all the university students.During recent years, the number and proportion of the poor students tend to increase. At present, the number of poor students in the universities of our country has reached larger than 3200000, and the average percentage of the poor university students has reached as high as 25% of all the students. The poor students have to bear great financial pressures, at the same time, they also have to bear some other pressures from social competitions, complicated inter-personal relationships, fast life pace, etc. As a result, some psychological problems are more or less existing in a certain portion of these poor students. Therefore, we university supervisors should understand, master and be concerned with the conditions of psychological health of the poor students, and give it an accurate evaluation, and pointedly proceed to search for effective solutions to the problems. In this way, try to train this special group of students into real socialistic constructors who have political integrity and professional competence, attach much weight to emotions and intelligence, and have sound mind and body. This is an important link for universities and educational supervisors to do a good job in the students'supervision, direct the healthy growth of students, and train qualified personnel. This is also a new and important subject for ideological education of university students. Starting from the investigation about the conditions of psychological health of the poor students and with the help of the scientific analysis of some facts, interviews, this paper can help understand the conditions of psychological health of the poor students, and based on this it pointedly proposes the ways to solve the problems. The indications of the results:1. Poor students are higher in degree than non-poor students in such five aspects as inter-personal sensitivity, depression, compulsion, anxiety and crankiness; the percentage of psychological problems is 27.26%, which is obviously higher than that of non-poor students. It shows that we shouldn't be quite optimistic about the conditions of psychological health of the poor students.2. For all the poor students, the positive ones are more than the passive ones. The poor students can be classified into three groups: the groups of being self-confidence and progressing, being self-abased and struggling, and being self-scorned and desperate.3. To solve the psychological problems of the poor students, we should adopt a stereoscopic and comprehensive model to all-directionally improve the inner and outer factors which influence the psychological health of the poor students, and adopt the corresponding strategies from the aspects of society, schools, individuals and so on.
