Verdi , the great 19th century Italian opera composer , created 26 operas in his life . Verdi's operas are mostly male-center to start and mainly to focus on the strong baritone role , so there is an emergence of the character voices named after him in the field of operas—Verdi baritone . From Verdi's works , this paper selects three baritone roles—Rigoletto , Iago and Falstaff to study . Using research methods of comparative analyses and from the two aspects of the drama image and the music image , this paper analyses and compares the three baritone figures to try to explore Verdi's works'baritone character and the way they shape .The following are the main points :Preface : Expounding the creation of Verdi's works and Verdi baritone , and showing the purpose and meaning of selecting the baritone roles to study.ChapterⅠ, the theatrical image comparision among Rigoletto , Iago and Falstaff . Mainly based on the stage literature , the paper separately analyses and compares the three baritone roles to explore their individuality and universality and find Verdi's works theme and humanistic thoughts .ChapterⅡ, the music image comparison among Rigoletto , Iago and Falstaff . ChapterⅡis the key point in the Article .Though deep analysis of the three figures and from Verdi's musical language music style and singing style , the paper addresses how to accurately understand and characterize these three baritone roles .Concluding remarks : From the two aspects of Verdi's unification of art and opera image portray , this paper summarizes Verdi's pursuit of the musical beauty and dramatic perfect combination on the basis of inheriting the tradition and how Verdi created the baritone images of different character and rich content using diverse musical styles .
