Spanish literature translated in Chinese is always located in the edge of the media-translatological literature in modern China, neither the quantity nor the scope of which could be compared with the translated literature of other countries such as Britain, America, Russia and Japan. However, the translation of Spanish literature has never been suspended during the modern time in China, and its translation in Chinese has become conscious from the angle of its object. Thus, whether putting it under branches of European literature or under small and weak nations'literature, we would not describe fully its unique features. Consequently, probing the general media-translatological conditions of Spanish literature in China and the tactics of their translators is bound to break the blind spots in the past, and helps to understand its significance in modern media-translatological literature in China. This paper treats Spanish literature translated in Chinese in modern China as its object of study. By combing the general conditions of Spanish translated literature in China during the period from 1917 to 1949, this paper divides this historical media-translatoligical activity into three different stages, thus to analyze the transfer of translation focus and to explore the corresponding reasons in each stage. In the prologue, this paper first defines the object of its study. Then a series of questions are put forward for further study .They are as follows: what kind of groups do the translators belong to? What media-translatological tactics and principles do they advocate? What influences produced from their translations upon Chinese modern literature? In the first part , this paper carefully combs and sorts out the general media-translatological conditions of Spanish literature translated in Chinese according to different stages, and finds out subtle differences between the stages, thus to overlook the full view of Spanish translated literature in the perspective of modern Chinese literature. It can be seen that in every stage of Chinese modern literature, with the translators having changed, the objects of the media-translatological literature vary correspondingly. This change goes through three periods: from the focus on thinking and content, through form and outside features, finally to the manifestation of war psychology. In the second part, this paper expounds its object of study from three aspects: translators, objects of translation and tactics of translation. From the view of translators, this paper concludes that they are the participants the progress of Chinese modern literature, as well as the backbone of media-translatological literature. From the angle of the objects of translation, this paper concludes that they present the diversified characteristics in different stages. All of these are closely related to translators'different tactics. Based on the theory of"Translating Norms"put forward by an Israelite scholar named Wolfram Wilss, this paper analyses the different translating tactics adopted by translators. Thus, this paper concludes that these translators contribute a lot to the modern literature of China as writers, and their translation works have constituted a very important part of the modernity of Chinese literature. In its conclusion, this paper briefly outlines the influence of Spanish literature translated in Chinese exerted on modern literature of China, and points out the consistence between the development of Spanish literature translated in Chinese and the modern literature's in China. Thus the planning and purposeful nature of Spanish literature translated in Chinese manifests itself quite clearly.
