In the intermediate stage of the DongHan Dynasty which zhangheng lived, there were many arresting phenomenons: outlander and eunuch grasped the political power in turn; The political corruption, the internal disorder and foreign invasionsare were fierce; in thought aspect, Confucianism had been accepted as the centralofficial ideology; Meanwhile, Classical Learning was gradually on the rise, and Confucianism Prophecy Belief had become a prominent issue. In this social context, Scholars generally lacked their own freedom, thereby differentiating into a variety of forms. these social characteristics of the times had a great impact on the formation and development of Zhang Heng's idea.Zhang Heng's accepting the Confucian thought was the inevitability of age. In his early work "er jing Fu" it was particularly noticeable. And in his late works "ying jian" , "si xuan Fu" and"qi bian", this thingking was shown the same firm. Compared with the contemporary,there was a unique character in his Confucian thinking:His literary works break through the long-term formation of the "gentle and kind" , Highlighted the "grievances" theme; His Confucianism's Rationalism conflicted with the hypocrisy;in politics,he used the Confucian spirit of the community against the popular macaroni virtual pan-style.In Zhang Heng's Early ideology, Confucianism was to occupy the largest proportion, and at a later stage, the Daoism really rose to dominant position.it could be proved through the historical facts,and as a means of expression, literature also clearly displayed such informations. the most concentrated expression was the the description of Daoism in the " kulouFu" and "guitian Fu"In addition, Zhang Heng's Taoism was not accepted from the late start, in the early works, Taoist thought can also be seen .but his former and latter part of the Taoist thought differed from their features and values.they belonged to the different sect.
