Construction Of Modern Chinese Culture

Since modern times begin, the culture has been concerned; the modern culture in academia has been to occupy important positions. Cultural events and opinions of the cultural choices and reconstruction often give rise to many discussions. What elements are relevant to culture construction? Can constructing of a new dimension or perspective solve the problem? What kind of role the people are playing in the process of culture construction? So this thesis completely abandoned the "precursor" and "ontology", and starts from the validity of the principle of reality. From the core of culture–i.e. people, approach the problem of modern new culture construction in depth, starting with the relationship between cultural identity and culture construction.This paper primarily tries to solve two problems: first, the relationship between cultural identity and the construction of modern culture. Second is to search for a strategy of modern new culture construction starting from the study of the relationship of them and the angle of cultural identity.This paper is divided into five sections.The first section asks several questions. As the world has become a "global village", the Communication of economic and cultures are easier and easier, there's no one is isolated. The inclusiveness of Chinese culture will soon accept and use the Western culture. The popularity of Western language, lifestyle, and pop culture products in China has aroused people's worries. Many people feel lost for the "weakening" of traditional culture. How to cope with this trend, "Westernization"? or adhering to traditional culture? They are seem unfeasible, it is the key to the problem of building a modern culture to withstand the pressure of Western culture continue to play the supporting role of traditional culture It becomes an urgent problems that how to open and advance Chinese culture and how to complete the transition between old culture and new one.In the second section, we firstly recall the process of constructing the history of Chinese culture. Chinese culture has undergone a long and tortuous history road of building, but restructuring work has also not been completed. After the Opium War, we experienced the Westernization Movement artifacts levels in the study, the 1898 Reform of the system to follow. Enlightenment period of 1919 had failed because of "total Westernization". People in the new period for another attempt ultimately failed, until the "Third Plenary Session of the 11th CPC Central Committee", it gradually became active in the ideological and cultural spheres, the Chinese community started to enter the period of transition from traditional society to modern society. Era develops, a culture grows continuously, and the people are striving to build a culture of exploration, this task is hard and far.Section three presents that cultural identity is a prerequisite for building the modern culture. To further study, this article firstly gives an explanation of some related concepts, such as culture, cultural identity and modern culture, and theories of modern culture construction. Cultural identity is a prerequisite for building the modern culture as it give a direction of individual moral, culture and spirit, in order to enable them determine what is good or valuable under different circumstances. If loosing of the identity, it will cause cultural identity crisis that will lead to people can not find the direction in the cultural field, the framework of a new culture can not be conducted in the confusion and chaos conditions. The fourth section deals with a cultural identity crisis are the predicament of modern culture building. At first this section analyzed the contemporary background of culture construction, in the form of cross-cultural communication, as cross-cultural exchanges between different cultures have the function of culture construction; cross-cultural communication provided a golden opportunity for the construction of modern Chinese culture. Meanwhile, the construction of modern culture will be conducive to more effective exchanges between all countries and various cultures. But cultural conflicts make building a new culture facing with the problem, the antagonism between traditional culture, modern culture and the post-modern culture shows the collisions of the local culture and foreign cultural, and result in the nation's cultural identity crisis.At this stage, cultural identity tends to show the crisis in four levels of cultural structure, such as system culture, ethics culture, Consumer culture and scientific theories. Lack of democratic in system culture, the principle of the supremacy make the ethical culture full of ethical shortcomings, the development of consumer culture and social is disharmony, Science lack of empirical science. They are the expression of cultural identity crisis. This shows that the cultural identity crisis is the biggest problem faced by structure of China's modern culture.Section five focuses on the feasibility of building a modern culture, and it is the key part of this paper. Construction of modern culture mainly divided into two parts, including the construction of subject and the system of cultural value system. Human is the mainstay of the cultural values. The construction of human requires having a complete idea of his cultural identity.The idea of the cultural identity is accomplished through the reconstruction of cultural spirit of people, sense of values, aspirations and objectives of value. Updating cultural spirit, introduce of Western democracy, and giving birth to system culture possessing the democratic tradition; advocating ethical culture which emphasize humane care; playing the guiding role of consumer culture and encourage rational consumption; require ding to carry forward the spirit of scientific theories focus on the rational. Dissemination of popular culture plays an important role in building modern sense of value and has a profound impact on people's values and the value of psychological changes. As a result, a modern sense of value can be established through dissemination of popular culture. Furthermore, we need to ensure that the realistic of value expectations and goals. Unrealistic value expectations and goals will bring confused and disappointed to members.Construction of the cultural values system should start with its internal structure, and adjust the internal structure of cultural values by "acculturation" power, so that create a specific culture which has a Chinese style and suited to China's actual development and is most advanced. This kind of specific culture is not Western personality or Chinese character, but a new system of cultural values. Construction of cultural value system must maintain its vitality, dynamism and self-regenerative capacity, Organize and regulate itself by its capacity of evolution and regeneration; keep a state of the opening value system, enhance the system's resiliency; maintain the diversity and richness of cultural values.The conclusion briefly mentioned that the construction of modern culture is a huge and complicated task, it is essential to solve the cultural identity crisis. Human in the culture have the initiative of changing cultural identity and habits of culture, it is the force to perfect the cultural identity. However, we must avoid the nihilistic recognized concept, so as not to cause confusion of identity and not to bring confusion and perplexity to culture building.
