This thesis, combining with the writer's unique life experience and starting from the Local Territory China proposed by Li JRui himself, provides a detailed text analysis of most of his medium-length and long novels created until now. Besides, according to his creation process, this thesis also explores the evolvement and combination of Local Territory and Modern Times in his novels, and further expounds the significance and value of his novel and view in the history of Chinese contemporary literature. The fundamental contents of this thesis are composed of the following parts.Introduction In this part, firstly, it introduces the current research situation of Li Rui's novels; secondly it explains the connotations of Local Territory and Modern Times that Li Rui understands; and finally it presents the literary value and contemporary significances of this research.Chapter One: Sprout and consciousness of Local Territory consciousness. In the light of the evolvement of his Local Territory consciousness, it can be divided into three parts: the part of Yue Shang Dong Shan, i.e. the latency visualization of Local Territory consciousness; the part of Hou Tu series, i.e. the consciousness of Local Territory consciousness; and the part of Wu Feng Zhi Shu & Wan Li Wu Yun, i.e. the exploration and construction of Local Territory's characteristics.Chapter Two: the modernist retrospection about Local Territory's history. In terms of the time when his representative novels were published, this part analyzes his modernist retrospections about the past 20 centuries one after another. His modernist retrospections consist of four parts: firstly, Chuan Shuo Zhi Si, i.e. folk encounter with the modernist revolution; secondly, Bei Jing You Ge Jin Tai Yang and Hei Bai, i.e. the Great Cultural Revolution and the school graduates' tragedy; thirdly, Jiu Zhi and Yin Cheng Gu Shi, i.e. the true narration of modern history; fourthly, Tai Ping Feng Wu-Nong Ju Xi Lie Xiao Shuo Zhan Lan, i.e. the folk existence in economic times. Conclusion The problems that Li Rui encounters during his creation are the common puzzlements and anxieties for most of Chinese literary workers. In the face of these problems which limit the development of Chinese contemporary literature, Li Rui not only pays no attention to these difficulties, but also devotes himself to the road of modernist writings footing at Local Territory China, so his devotion is of unique significance and value to literary history. For how to combine Local Territory and Modern Times is still perplexing many writers and critics and no ultimate answer to it has been found, this research remains to be the question requiring attention in literature's future development. Li Rui hopes he can lead the Modern Chinese creation to get out of its tight spots and to head for prosperity through his deep thinking and creation effort, which not only provides references for solving the problems, but also has important realistic value and history significance.
