However, in order to make the translation more acceptable and understandable to the Western readers, Hawkes and Minford enrich their version with their understandings, imaginations and explanations which demolish the style of the original in a sense and embody an unequal power relation, and hamper the correct understanding and conveying of the Chinese culture.; while the Yangs, who aim to introduce the novel and Chinese culture to the Western world, try very hard to retain the original feature by sticking to the original style from lexical to syntactic level. |
