Chen Xian-zhang is a famous philosophor of Neo-Confuciam and poet,and he is also a outstanding essayist in Ming Dynasty.But people pay much attention to his philosophic idea and poem than prose for a long time.Although his prose is no more than six hundred,it also shows his special personality and trait.Concerning content,his prose has not particular in loving county and concerning people and so on ,but in part exhibits his difference to other philosophor of Neo-Confuciams;On artistic feature,he has his original style of writing in style and detail and so forth;About aesthetics,he pursues the beauty of inherent personality,style and artistic conception,which mostly display the artistic value of his prose;With regard to the relation betwee his poem and prose,the theory of prose and the practice of poem mutually replenish,and enhance each other's beauty.It not only changes people's prejudice towards proses by philosophor of Neo-Confuciam,but also forms the prelude to the development of essay in the middle and later period of Ming Dynasty.
