The Plague And The Handle Measures Of The Circles Of The Society In Guangzhou And HongKong In The Late Qing Dynasty

The late Qing Dynasty witnessed an unprecedented plague in GuangZhou and Hong Kong.The outburst of it was related to the characteristics of Guangzhou and HongKong's geoeraphy and climate, and to the other factors, such as in the late Qing Dynasty - GuangZhou and Hong Kong's social and economic development, increase of population and frequent circulation of resident. Affected by all these factors, the pathogen of plague was take into GuangZhou and Hong Kong and led to a violent outburst in later nineteen century which brought a serious of catastrophe to GuangZhou and Hong Kong: many people died from the pestilence, social economy suffered a severe repression, and the residents were shocked by the catastrophe which resulted in the panic and chaos of the whole society.After the outburst of plague, personalities of all circles took many measures: The Qing Dynasty also succeeded the foemerly handling measures of plague,and ordered the governor in GuangZhou took into strategies properly.in the fact,the philanthropic constitutes took change of it. the patients and the herbalist doctors also took many waysto save,but the effect is not good;Hong Kong government took charge of affairs of disaster relief, laid down a rational plan of relief , cured the patients positively and paid attention to the disinfection treatment of disaster area, The Tung Wah Hospital also made great efforts to relieve the disaster, and the residents in Hong Kong-especially the patients—saved themselves by many ways, too.By the efforts of personalities of all circles ,the plague was under controlled.the plague made Guangzhou and Hong Kong's government began to attach importance to affairs of pubilc health,the healthy knowledge began to be pubilcized,at the samt time the epidemic prevention urged the system of port quarantine to instaurate,and producd the handling mechanism of plague.This dissertation comprehensively observes and studies the plague from many points of view,such as medical science,sociology and psychology.the topic of the dissertation is on the serious plague,but the anthor dosent's limitthe plague itself, the anthor demonstrates many aspects which are related to the plague,including...
