The contemporary Sinology in North American underwent a process from criticize on West-center view to reflect on China-center view. A new way of history written appears, and Timothy Brook is representative. This thesis choose Brook as a study case, aimed to display development and feature of contemporary Sinology in North American.The thesis is divided into three chapters. Chapter 1 focuses on economy and discusses Ming status in the whole world which Brook believes. Chapter 2 concentrates on commerce, involved in re-study the problem of nascent capitalism. Chapter 3 study his research on political system in Ming dynasty and other scholars' study.Currently the study on Brook is still in the introduction stage. The purpose of this thesis is to make a comparatively systematic study. The study method is to put Brook under the extensive backgrounds of the North American Sinology and compare his research with internal study. The thesis aims to show new process of North American Sinology and offer a constructive academic angle for our internal study.
