| Many scholar believe, There is a relationship between the issue of non-being in Greek philosophy and the study on the paradox of golden mountain which is by analytic philosophers in 20th century. In fact, this view should be doubted. The issue of non-being in Greek philosophy is rooted from Parmenides. He made the category 'being' to be absolute, so that the 'relative non-being' have to be equivalent to the 'absolute non-being' which can not be thought and given mouth to. Accordingly, Parmenides provided a premise for the issue of non-being. In , Plato made an expert study of the issue of non-being, according to the analysis of the relationship between 'being' and another categories, Plato succeed to clear up the issue of non-being in the construction of the system of the pure categories. However, the analytic philosophers in 20th century had question about 'golden mountain'(a non-existence) because of their faith in the reference theory, and finally, they cleared up the paradox of golden mountain by description theory. Hence, whether the causation of the question and the way of solution, the paradox of golden mountain is obviously different from the issue of non-being in Greek philosophy. |
