Movies And Movie Speeches

Public speaking as a special discourse form in movies is a field which hasn't been researched yet. This thesis analyses and classifies the forms of movie speeches. Certain rules results from the analysis of the interior structure of public speaking plus the research of it in certain contexts. The paper is divided into three parts which are as follows:The first part: summarize the characteristics of the discourse forms in movie speeches and according to different characteristics, such as context, structure of contain and so on, four common kinds of movie speeches can be classified as public speaking for war mobilization, public speaking in revolution, public speaking for influencing adjudgement and public speaking in class.The second part: movie speech has a feature of two kinds of audience—one in the movies and the other one in the theatres. The latter one is the true rhetorical object of the speaking. Based on this idea is the research of the relationship between movies and the public speaking in them. Movie speeches can influence positively the narration of movies. For instance, it can model characters, push on plots, romance atmosphere, and expound directors' intention and what not. But public speaking which is not properly used may affect the dynamic and the narration speed of movies and block the development of plots.The third part: through playwrights' creation, directors' creation and actors' performance, the basis structure of movie speech is set up and its rules are found out.
