After films came into being, they had a close relationship with literature. The benign interrelationship between novels and films has become a real fact. The direct embodiment of the two is----novels are adapted into films. This activity has lasted for a long time, and in a large number. Therefore, adaptation has become an important cultural phenomenon. In China, from eigties and ninties in the twentienth century, directors began to give their attention to works of some recent writers from ancient and modern literature. Among them, many works of Su Tong and Mo Yan, two avant-garde writers, have been adapted into films, and the films have been successful: they have been recoganized in the world, and caused great reflection. This article is around the adapted works of Su Tong and Mo Yan, from different styles, different narrative ways and different reflections, analyze and compare the adapted film and the original novel to check the gains and lost of the adapted works.I make such dicisions according to my reading ,when novels are adapted into films, the director should discover visual effects that interpret and should make it accepted by the audience. The director should study something from the novel,it's an effective way to extend narrative ways of films.Filmed novels is an important literary phenomenon, which has little character of literature ,therefore there is no meaning as novels. So the writer should take a firm stand in literature instead of catering for the intrest of films. Novels and films should study from each other on the basis of keeping their individuality, then they can develop in their right way, that's what we are expecting for.
