Modern Psychological Analysis Of The Characters In Wuthering Heights

The love story of Heathcliff and Catherine is the essence of Wuthering Heights, the masterpiece of Emily Bronte. The story is also called "the riddle of riddles". On the basis of intensive reading of the novel, this thesis, using new theories of modern psychology, tries to analyze their emotional world and dig out the nature deep in their consciousness.This essay will use new theories of modern psychology to interpret Wuthering Heights. It will be divided into five parts, together with an introduction. The author and the work's background will be given in the introduction. Chapter two will analyze the main characters and their psychology and the psychological setting. In chapter three, by using Freudian theories, an interpretation of the characters' relationship, especially the main characters' relationships (id, ego, superego) is given. Dream is used to denote the specific mental process that each human being has. In Chapter four other modern psychology such as Carl Jung's theory of archetype, shadow the animus and the anima is used.
